Rally HR61: Battle of Britain Airshow Rally

There are still a few places available on this rally which has the advantage of being nextdoor to the Headcorn Airfield, so you can experience the WW2 aircraft flying over the site at the weekend when their annual show is taking place.
If you are a real aircraft buff you can buy advanced tickets at https://bobairshow.co.uk/ to attend the show.
There are plenty of attractions in the area, detail of which you can find in your Rally Venues Book and Going Places (Autumn, page 78)
Les & Carole Adams would love you to join them.

How to keep up to date with rally updates

Please be aware that not all rally news will be posted in Members’ News as there is a dedicated area in Latest Rally News. Any rallies which have an item in Latest Rally News will also be highlighted in orange in the Members’ Rally Programme. Only urgent and time sensitive amendments to rallies will be duplicated in Members’ News. Please check Latest Rally News before booking a rally.

For those who are not familiar with the website, there is a link to the Latest Rally News on the Members’ Area home page and the Members’ Rally Programme can be found under the RALLY INFO menu on any Members’ Area webpage.

Beware Email Scam

Member Terry Marney’s email address has been hacked. If you have ever communicated with Terry via email you will have probably received the following:

A very innocent looking email asking if you are free by email to ask you something quick. This will show as coming from his genuine email address if you click on it.

The reply email states a difficulty in dealing with Amazon to get a £300 E-Gift Card for a friend’s sick daughter and asks you to get one for him.

Terry is aware of it and has changed his password so hopefully getting everything back to normal.

Swift Live Event 2026

Swift have announced that there will be a Swift Live Event at their Swift Factory at Cottingham near Hull on the weekend of 12th and 13th of September 2026. The event will be bigger and better than last years event Swift have told me. The event will include a tour around the factory and will showcase the new 2027 caravans, motorhomes, trekkers and basecamps. Several Swift dealers will also be on site. The event is free to attend but you must register with Swift for a ticket. Registration isn’t open yet and an update will be posted on here as and when.

Members Rally Programme

With a lot of help from member Dave Coller generating rally location coordinates, I have now fully populated the Members’ Rally Programme with all GPC coordinates in 3 selectable digital formats and also in What3Words format.

See under ‘MEMBERS RALLY PROGRAMME’ in the top menu on any Members’ Area web page.

The Rally Programme highlights rallies where there is at least one item in the Members’ News. As on previous years you can click on the co-ordinates and view the rally location on Google Maps.

Retiring from Caravanning

A huge thank you to all members for your friendship. It has been a pleasure and delight to be part of the Club, both Gaynor and I have so many fond memories and cannot count the kind deeds and acts of help received. We will not forget.

Thank you is just not enough. For anyone visiting Mid-Wales I would be delighted if you wish to call by and I can offer an overnight stop with electric hook-up for a caravan and with a very warm welcome. My phone number remains 07876155774 and email address is 101stan1948@gmail.com

Gaynor is in a care home now but as I rattle around in a 5 bedroom house, I can also accommodate an overnight stay.

I will be contacting one or two of you personally to say goodbye.

Enjoy your rallying.

Latest Rally News Now Back Online

Following the recent problem where the code for the Latest Rally News facility became corrupted, I have had to completely redevelop the facility which is now back online. As I had to literally start from scratch, I designed it in a slightly different way to ease maintaining the data and to fix a couple of known problems with the original one.

Apologies for the delay and any inconvenience but a change of year is always a particular busy time for me.

You can access Latest Rally News via links on the Members’ Home Page or via the top menu on any Members’ Area webpage.

If any Marshals want to publish items for their rallies, please email webmaster@ swift-owners-club.com and I will add it to the list. Emails containing the required content for an item are preferred and appreciated as that is then much quicker for me to do; I love Copy & Paste.

Kate Bourne 26/11/1982 to 17/1/2026

This is probably the hardest words I have ever had to write for someone so young.
Kate passed away peacefully yesterday at the very young age of 43 with all her loving family around her. Kate had bravely battled with cancer for many years and always with a smile on her face even when times were tough.

Although Kate, Ian, Henry & Daisy were no longer members of the club they remained very close friends with so many members. Many of us kept contact with Kate on Facebook thoughout her brave journey with words of love and encouragement which we know she always appreciated.

Our thoughts are with all the family and close friends at this devastating time.

For the benefit of our newer members who didn’t know Kate, they marshalled many wonderful rallies with their close friends Martin & Helen Keen, notably Easter & Halloween rallies. The whole family were great fun to be with and were always game for a laugh and joined in everything with great enthusiasm.

R.I.P Kate, you will be sadly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing such a lovely lady.
