SOC Recipe Book

As promised ahead of this year’s AGM, I have produced an initial version of the SOC Recipe Book containing recipes from members submitted so far. The book is expandable and can be updated three or four times a year (or more frequently if required), so please do continue sending your recipes to me at recipes@swift-owners-club.com following the guidance included in the Introduction to the book. Recipes don’t have to be complicated or difficult to follow, so anything that can be easily produced whilst away in your unit is absolutely fine.

The Recipe Book in its current format is an eBook and you can readily access it by clicking on the image of the front cover on the General Info Main Page within the members section of the website. However, you can open it now via this link

It opens as a webpage and you will probably want to close the advert banner at the top & bottom of the screen! On a PC or laptop, the book can be made ‘Fullscreen’ by double clicking one of the pages. Pages can be turned forwards or backwards via the right > & left < hand arrow symbols, or using your fingers on a touchscreen. If you have any comments or feedback, please provide them via the email address above. I hope you enjoy trying out some of the recipes.

Attending AGM and not on the rally?

Can I please request that anyone who is unable to attend the rally but is coming just for the meeting to let me know. This is very helpful to ensure speedy registration on the door. You can email me at val@thebrailsfords.com or contact me by any other means that you normally have contacted me by.

NOTE TO ALL MEMBERS ATTENDING THE MEETING : Please ensure you have your membership sticker available. This can be either in your Rally Book or on your phone.

AGM Rally – Not too late to book

Although it’s after the published final booking date, it’s not too late as there is still space on the field with electric hook-ups and you will be made most welcome; the rally is open for entries up the 1st May.

There’s plenty going on each evening including one night of professional entertainment. There is also a Street Party planned for the Monday afternoon to celebrate VE Day 80. In the first instance please contact the lead marshals, Ron & Maureen Ward, if you would like to attend.

There is a special booking form for this rally in the Spring edition of Going Places or you can download one from this website HERE. Marshal’s contact details and payment details are on the form.

Mick Bradford

Sadly, Honorary Life Member Mick Bradford passed away last night.
Mick and Lou had been members of the SOC for 24 years but sadly had to give up caravanning just a few years ago due to Mick’s declining health. Mick was a keen fisherman and won the Catch 22 fishing competition many times.
I believe the last time we had the pleasure of their company on a rally was at Drax Power Station beer festival rally in March 2020. That was the last SOC rally before Covid shut the world down. I will always think of Mick whenever I play the 20p blocks game on a rally. He made a set for Val and I and for several other marshals.
They were a lovely friendly couple and always a pleasure to be with. They made many lifelong friends in the club and he will be sadly missed by all members who had the privilege of knowing him and the pleasure of his company.

All Mick’s family were by his bedside to say goodbye. Our thoughts are with Lou and all the family at this very sad time.

I will publish the funeral details here in the Members’ News as soon as I have them and Hilary Farrow will be collating numbers of attendees once details are known.
R.I.P. Mick
