Chairman and Secretary Position Vacancies

Our Hon. Secretary Elaine is retiring at the AGM in May. She had planned to retire at last year’s AGM but no suitable candidate stepped forward.
This is a very important position and the club cannot function without a Secretary. The job requires organisational skills to ensure everything runs smoothly within the club.
Equally important it requires dedication to the club to ensure that the club can continue to thrive for many years to come with new blood injecting new ideas.
If you feel you (or know someone else in the club) have the skills needed for this important Executive Committee position then contact Elaine.
She is happy to talk to you on the phone with no obligation whatsoever and her number can be found on page 7 of the Rally Book.
Alternatively she is happy to send you a job description before you speak to her. So please email secretary@swift-owners-club.com which again is without commitment.

Our Chairman is also retiring at the AGM in May and we need someone to take up this position for the future too. Elaine can also provide you with the job description for the Chairman position and Ron’s phone number can also be found on page 7 of your Rally Book.

All committee positions are open for you to apply for.

Nominations for all positions must be received by the secretary no later than Sunday 23rd March 2025.

Jim Lee

Sadly, we received a phone call today from Jean Lee to inform us that her husband Jim passed away last Wednesday (15th January) after a short illness.

Jim & Jean joined the club in 1993 and were regular ralliers, mainly in the north as they lived in Stockport at the time, but they travelled further afield on holiday rallies both at home and abroad. They were always fun to be with on rallies and many ralliers will have happy memories of those times.

They reluctantly had to give up caravanning when Jim had to relinquish his driving licence due to medical issues, and at that point became Honorary Life Members. They then moved to live in Leicester to be near their son. Jim used to enjoy a short walk to the local pub to have a pint with him and Jean was happy to stay at home as her mobility had deteriorated.

Val and I often visited them when in the area. They were a lovely friendly couple and it was always a pleasure to visit them and I know that they really appreciated our visits.

Our thoughts are with Jean, her daughter and all the family at this difficult time.

RIP Jim it was a pleasure to have known you.

I have been ask by the marshals Stan & Gaynor to let you know that they have several spaces available on this 4 night rally (29th December to 2nd Jan 2025)

PLEASE NOTE there was a change of marshal after the book went to print. Please contact Stan Mountford if you are interested, by email to stan1948@talktalk.net or call 0786 155774 for more information.

SOC Cook Book Survey – Interim Results (Sep 2024)

The Autumn edition of Going Places includes some of the interim results from the Cook Book survey responses so far (eleven to date). The full set of the interim results are provided below, and these provide a flavour (pardon the pun) of how members cook in their units. However, more responses will provide more meaningful results, and to this end I have extended the survey deadline to the end of the year to allow you to do so. It really is very simple to complete and not an onerous task, so please do fill it in. The link to the survey is SOC Cook Book Survey and please do keep recipes coming by sending to recipes@swift-owners-club.com As promised, I have included another one in Autumn Going places, which will be out soon.

An example version of the Cook Book will also be available soon to stimulate further interest and the submission of more recipes for inclusion. This is Your Cook Book and will contain Your recipes. All recipes sent in will be included, and editorial control will not extend to deciding what should or shouldn’t be included, so you send it and I’ll add it to the book, as long as it is a proper recipe.

So let’s continue to Cook & Share – Yvonne Lovett
