Brian Taylor Funeral Arrangements

Brian Malcolm Taylor  April 2nd 1936 – September 19th 2021

Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

The funeral will take place at 10.15am on November 8th 2021

St Gabriel’s  Church, Walstead Rd,  Walsall, WS5 4LZ.

Followed by the committal at Streetly Crematorium West Chapel at 11.30.

Please, no flowers, if you wish donations will be welcome for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, or Walsall Heart Care.

Please dress in whatever you choose.

You are invited to celebrate his life by joining us at Killock, 3rd Walsall Sea Scout Headquarters, Longwood Lane, Walsall, WS4 2JT.

Due to the early time of the service you will be welcome to join us at any time during the day.

AGM ESSENTIALS

If you are going to the AGM rally or just the meeting, please remember to download the AGM meeting paperwork from the website to your phone/tablet or print it out. The documentation can be found in the Members’ Area on the General Info page in the AGM Documentation section. However, if you do not have the facilities to do this then as a last resort please contact our Secretary, Val Metcalf, NO LATER than THURSDAY to request a printed copy.

As we are just a couple of days away from the AGM please familiarise yourself with the post from our Secretary earlier this month.

Key points are:

  • Tell Val Metcalf if you want to give your apologies for non-attendance at the meeting secretary@swift-owners-club.com
  • Tell Val Brailsford if you are coming to JUST the meeting val@thebrailsfords.com
  • Bring your cups for Tea or Coffee.
  • Although it is not a club requirement, it would be appreciated if you could take a Lateral Flow test before the rally or attending the meeting.
  • Remember to bring your membership card to the meeting or contact Val Brailsford prior to the meeting if you don’t have it with you.

Peter Hinton

I have sadly been informed by Norma that Peter Hinton passed away recently. Val and I have known Peter of Wanborough nr Swindon since he first joined the club in 1992. He will be sadly missed by all of us that knew him and rallied with him, both at home and abroad. Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

Peter’s funeral will take place at Kingstown Crematorium, Kingsdown Rd, Swindon SN25 6SG on Wednesday 13th October at 11:15am followed by the wake at The Brewers Arms, High St, Wanborough, Swindon SN4 0AE

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of long-standing member Brian Taylor of Walsall. Brian passed away yesterday, 19th September, and will be sadly missed.

Brian and his wife Jane joined the SOC in 2006 and have always been regular ralliers both at home and abroad. Although Brian was confined to a wheelchair, he always enjoyed his caravanning amongst friends.

Our thoughts are with Jane and family at this sad time.

When I receive further information I will publish it here in the Members’ News.

A Message From The Editor

The Autumn edition of Going Places will be a month later than normal in line with the Spring & Summer editions so you have until 30th October to send copy to me. I would really appreciate some rally reports etc as most of the reports I have had so far are from the same source.

Rally No 49: Couplands Open Weekend, Louth, 14th – 17th October

We now have a new venue and date for the re-arranged preview rally at Couplands dealership in Louth to coincide with the release of the new 2022 Swift Caravans.

The new date is Thursday 14th October to Sunday 17th October. (Extra nights are available at £18/night inc. EHU). The rally will open at 12 noon.

The site address is Northolme Farm, North End, Alvingham, LOUTH. LN11 0QH

All paperwork for the AGM is now available to download via the website. See AGM Documentation Section on the General Information page in the Members’ Area.

This year the AGM will be held on the Saturday.

If you are planning to JUST attend the meeting, please can you let Val Brailsford know asap via phone, text, Messenger or email. This will allow us to manage the registration of members for the meeting and catering on the day.  (Own cups please).
