Membership Renewals

The last day for sending second class post was 18th December, therefore anything posted after that date is not guaranteed to be delivered before Christmas.

The last day I will be able to post renewals will be the 23rd December.  I will not be able to process renewals from that date until the 4th January 2022 due to Bank Holidays and that I am part of the marshaling team for a New Year rally.

Please except my apologies for this.

Jennifer Wild’s Celebration of Life

Gordon has advised me that the celebration of Jennifer’s life will be held on January 4th 2022 at 13.45 at St Andrews Church in the Westlands, Newcastle under Lyme, on Pilkington Avenue ST5 3RE.

The service will be followed by a short committal at Bradwell Crematorium Chatterley Close, Newcastle-under-Lyme ST5 8LE for close family and friends only.

There will be light refreshments in the adjoining Church Hall when the family return from Bradwell.

He requested to let his sister Pam (pme.edwards33@gmail.com) know if you are planning to attend, as Covid restrictions may limit numbers at the last moment.

He also asks attendees to please take a Covid lateral flow test beforehand, to wear a mask and to maintain social distancing.

No flowers please but donations may be made to Arthritis Research UK and Cancer Research UK.

Rally No 65: Drax, North Yorkshire New Year Celebrations

The Marshals would like to advise if you haven’t received an email with the arrangements for this year you are NOT booked onto the rally. There has been some confusion this year in relation to bookings after Covid caused last year’s rally to be cancelled. Please note we are almost at capacity but could take one or two more. If you are interested this is the final call. Please email or call ASAP contacts are in the rally book.

Thank you to all of those booked onto the Drax rally. We are aiming to make up for last year’s disappointment while keeping our members as safe as we can. Merry Christmas from your rally marshals.

Val Rowett, on behalf of the Marshalling Team

Jennifer Wild

Sadly, I was informed today by Gordon of the passing of his wife Jennifer (Jenny) Wild. Jenny passed away yesterday evening (1st December) after a long battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by her family and the many SOC friends they have made over their many years of membership.

Jenny and Gordon of Newcastle-under-Lyme joined our club back in 1983. They were well known regular ralliers at both home and abroad.

Our thoughts are with Gordon and family at this very sad and difficult time.

I will publish further details here in the Members’ News when advised by Gordon.

NEC Show 2022 22nd – 27th February

Volunteers are required to represent the Club on the SOC stand at the NEC show in February 2022 each day, Tuesday to Sunday. We are looking to have 4 people each day, with at least 2 people on the stand at any one time, which will give you some free time to look around the show. The show opening times are from 10am to 6pm each day. Free adult show passes will be provided. Contact me, preferably by email at: marketing@swift-owners-club.com or by telephone on 01283 341667, giving your available dates please.
Thanking you in anticipation.

Adopt a Dealer Request for Volunteers

After the Covid restrictions, we are looking to re-introduce the ‘Adopt-A-Dealer’ scheme that had previously been run by the Club. In brief, we are looking for volunteer members who would be willing to make and maintain contact with their local dealer(s). Generally, this will involve, but not necessarily limited to, visiting the dealer every 2 – 3 months to ensure that any display materials that we have provided is still well maintained, visible and topped up as required, and also to maintain a good relationship with that dealer.
Other ideas or suggestions that could increase Club membership may be implemented as and when introduced.
This would not necessarily be limited with dealers who currently advertise with us, but any that you know of local to you, but predominantly a Swift dealer.
In the first instance, would any member who is willing to undertake this responsibility, please email me at: marketing@swift-owners-club.com giving me your address, and the name(s) of any dealer(s) within your locality that you would be willing to liaise with. Please do not make any initial contact with dealers. (If you had previously volunteered, please do so again so that we are current in our listings).
